WINTER CAMP UNDER BAL GANGA PRAHARI PRPGRAMME AT WILDLIFE INSTITUTE OF INDIA (19th to 26th December, 2023)

From December 19 to 26, 2023, a series of engaging Winter Camp activities took place at the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun. 

  1. On Dec 19, 45 girls from Dayanand Kanya Inter College, Subhash Nagar, participated in ‘Yoga’ and 'Best Out of Waste' activities. 
  2. On Dec 20, 35 students from the same school participated in an arts and crafts session. 
  3. On December 26, a block printing skill development workshop was organized for students as part of the Winter Camp activities. The workshop also featured cultural activities, including folk dance and music of various cultures. In total, 190 students from 05 schools in the Ganga River Basin states actively participated in the workshop.
  4. Scholarships were awarded to 10 deserving underprivileged students from each of R.N.I. Inter College, Haridwar and Govt. High School, Behral, Himachal Pradesh.

SENSITIZATION PROGRAMME AT DAYANAND KANYA INTER COLLEGE IN SUBHASH NAGAR, DEHRADUN (18th December, 2023)

A sensitization programme was conducted on ‘Ganga River Biodiversity Conservation’ by the WII-NMCG team at Dayanand Kanya Inter College, Subhash Nagar, Dehradun. A total of 150 students benefited from the programme.

DRAWING COMPETITION AT MAHATMA GANDHI GOVERNMENT SCHOOL, JAIPUR, RAJASTHAN (13th December, 2023)

WII-NMCG Team Conducted a drawing competition centered around the theme ‘Companions in and around Ganga’ at Mahatma Gandhi Government School in Jaipur, Rajasthan, where a total of 50 students actively participated in the competition

INAUGURATION OF 19TH GANGA AQUALIFE KNOWLEDGE CENTRE AT GOVT. MAHARANI GIRLS SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL IN BANIPARK, JAIPUR, RAJASTHAN (9th DECEMBER, 2023)

WII-NMCG Team inaugurated the 19th Ganga Aqualife Knowledge Centre, known as the Bal Ganga Prahari Corner, at Govt. Maharani Girls Senior Secondary School in Banipark, Jaipur, Rajasthan.

SENSITIZATION PROGRAMME AT MAHATMA GANDHI GOVERNMENT SCHOOL, JAIPUR, RAJASTHAN (12th DECEMBER, 2023)

WII-NMCG Team conducted Sensitization programmes on ‘Biodiversity Conservation’ at the Mahatma Gandhi Government School, Jaipur, Rajasthan. The 60 students and 5 teachers attended the programme. 

TWO DAYS TRAINING WORKSHOP FOR NSS VOLUNTEERS TOOK PLACE AT GOVT. MAHARANI GIRLS SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL, JAIPUR, RAJASTHAN (5th to 6th December, 2023)

WII-NMCG team conducted a two-day training workshop for NSS volunteers at Govt. Maharani Girls Senior Secondary School in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The training focused on biodiversity conservation, community engagement, and the promotion of alternative livelihood development. A total of 56 participants have actively participated in the training programme.

AWARENESS PROGRAMME AT GOVERNMENT HIGH SCHOOL MEHUWALA, DEHRADUN UTTARAKHAND (5th DECEMBER, 2023)

On World Soil Day, the WII-NMCG Team conducted an awareness programme at the Government High School Mehuwala, at Dehradun in Uttarakhand, where 150 students and 10 teachers participated in the programme.

SENSITIZATION PROGRAMME AT GOVERNMENT ADARSH SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL, JAIPUR, RAJASTHAN (4th December, 2023)

Sensitization programme on ‘Biodiversity Conservation’ were conducted by WII-NMCG team at the Government Adarsh Senior Secondary School, Jaipur, Rajasthan. The programme involved 60 students and 7 teachers.

SENSITIZATION PROGRAMME AT GOVT. MAHARANI GIRLS SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL BANI PARK, JAIPUR, RAJASTHAN (2nd December, 2023)

WII-NMCG Team conducted a sensitization programme on Environment Conservation at Govt. Maharani Girls Senior Secondary School Bani Park, Jaipur, Rajasthan, where 80 students and 5 teachers have participated in the programme. Various outdoor activities and quizzes were also conducted at the end of the programme.

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME LAUNCHED FOR UNDER-PRIVILEGED GOVERNMENT SCHOOL CHILDREN OF CLASS  9th UNDER ‘BAL GANGA PRAHARI PROGRAMME’ (21st November 2023)

Under the ‘Bal Ganga Prahari Programme’ the WII-NMCG Project launched a scholarship programme for underprivileged school students of class 9th of the government schools. The vision of the scholarship programme is to encourage and support the students towards education. The Bal Ganga Prahari Schools will be the beneficiaries of the programme.

SENSITIZATION PROGRAMME AT RAJASTHAN INTER SCHOOL, SAHIBGANJ, JHARKHAND (15th November 2023)

The WII-NMCG Team organized an awareness programme at Rajasthan Inter School in Jharkhand, to educate students about the diverse biodiversity of the Ganga River and introduce them to the Bal Ganga Prahari Programme. The prograamme has an active participation from 300 students and 7 teachers. 

INAUGURATION OF 18th GANGA AQUALIFE KNOWLEDGE CENTRE AT RAJASTHAN INTER SCHOOL, JHARKHAND (14th November 2023)

The WII-NMCG Team established the 18th Ganga Aqualife Knowledge Centre (Bal Ganga Prahari Corner) at Rajasthan Inter School, in the heart of Sahibganj at Jharkhand. The event sought to enlighten students on the enriched biodiversity of the Ganga River, concurrently introducing them to the Bal Ganga Prahari Programme.

SENSITIZATION PROGRAMME AT UPGRADED HIGH SCHOOL MASKALAIYA, SAHIBGANJ, JHARKHAND (9th November 2023)

The WII-NMCG Team conducted a sensitization programme at Upgraded High School in Maskalaiya, Jharkhand. The event aimed to educate students about the captivating biodiversity of the Ganga River, while also introducing them to the Bal Ganga Prahari Programme. This informative session witnessed enthusiastic participation from 250 students and 9 teachers. To engage the students, quizzes, and wildlife-themed games were organized, creating an informative and enjoyable experience for all.

INAUGURATION OF 17th GANGA AQUALIFE KNOWLEDGE CENTRE AT UPGRADED HIGH SCHOOL, MASKALAIYA, JHARKHAND (9th November 2023)

The WII-NMCG Team inaugurated the 17th Ganga Aqualife Knowledge Centre (Bal Ganga Prahari Corner) at the Upgraded High School, Maskalaiya, Taljhari, Sahibganj, Jharkhand. This centre is dedicated to the theme ‘Biodiversity of the Ganga River.’ Its primary objective is to educate school students about the biodiversity of the Ganga River and the imperative need for its restoration.

SHOWCASED THE BAL GANGA PRAHARI PRODUCTS AT DIWALI EXPO IN WILDLIFE INSTITUTE OF INDIA (8th to 9th November 2023)

The WII-NMCG Team showcased the products designed by Bal Ganga Praharis at the Diwali Expo organized by the Wildlife Institute of India. The objective is to provide scholarships to students from underprivileged backgrounds in the Ganga Basin State, aiming to support their educational pursuits.

Students and teachers of Govt. Abhinav Inter College, Kannauj conducted cleanliness drive and awareness programme to promote cleanliness around rivers and ghats.

BAL GANGA PRAHARI SPEARHEAD TEAMS ANNOUNCED AT DIFFERENT SCHOOLS OF THE GANGA BASIN STATES

Under the Bal Ganga Prahari Programme, schools have formed Spearhead teams form 8th and 9th standards selecting 10 students to engage students in activities related to the conservation of Ganga Aqualife, in collaboration with organizations like the Wildlife Institute of India and other government programmes.

The students and teachers of Har Sahai Jagdamba Sahai Inter College, Kanpur conducted a cleanliness drive at Sarsaiya Kanpur Ghat, Uttar Pradesh.

EDUCATIONAL VISIT OF INDIAN CAMBRIDGE SCHOOL, DALANWALA, AT WILDLIFE INSTITUTE OF INDIA, DEHRADUN (31st October 2023)

The WII-NMCG Project organized an educational cum exposure visit for the school students from Indian Cambridge School, Dalanwala at the Wildlife Institute of India in Dehradun. The visit encompassed lectures, laboratory visits, hands-on sessions on biomagnification, outdoor activities, and games centred around Ganga Biodiversity Conservation. Additionally, participants engaged in interactive worksheets. A total of 127 students and 7 teachers from the school were exposed to the dynamics of Wildlife in the institute.

SENSITIZATION PROGRAMME AT GOVT. MIDDLE SCHOOL, TAJEWALA, HARYANA (19th October 2023)

As part of the Bal Ganga Prahari Programme, the WII-NMCG Team organized a sensitization programme for students and teachers at Govt. Middle School, Tajewala. The programme aimed to impart knowledge about aquatic species and their significance in preserving freshwater ecosystems. The Principal Investigator and Bal Ganga Prahari Programme Coordinator were also present. Students were awarded with appealing prizes to boost their motivation and acknowledge their efforts. In total, 150 students were present in the programme.

INAUGURATION OF GANGA AQUALIFE KNOWLEDGE CENTRE AT GOVT. HIGH SCHOOL, BEHRAL, HIMACHAL PRADESH (18th October 2023)

With the integrated efforts of the WII-NMCG Team, the Ganga Aqualife Knowledge Centre (Bal Ganga Prahari Corner) at Govt. High School, Behral, was inaugurated by the Dean WII, Training Coordinator, WII-NMCG Project, and Bal Ganga Prahari Programme Coordinator. This corner serves as a Nodal Centre aiming to educate school students and raise awareness about the biodiversity of the Ganga River Basin. Additionally, it will extend its educational efforts to students from nearby schools, further enhancing its impact.

SENSITIZATION PROGRAMME AT GOVT. PRIMARY SCHOOL PITHUWALA, CHANDRABANI, DEHRADUN (12th October 2023)

The WII-NMCG Team celebrated International Farmer’s Day at Govt. Primary School, Pithuwala, Chandrabani. The event aimed to educate students and respect to the hard-working farmers across the nation. The team imparted awareness about the enchanting biodiversity of the Ganga River and its tributaries, while also introducing them to the Bal Ganga Prahari Programme. The informative session has an enthusiastic participation of 180 students and 5 teachers. To engage students, a quiz was conducted, and prizes were also distributed making it an informative and enjoyable experience for all.

CELEBRATION OF ‘NATIONAL WILDLIFE WEEK 2023’ AT SETH MOTILAL KHERIA S.D. INTER COLLEGE, KANPUR, UTTAR PRADESH (8th October, 2023) 

The WII-NMCG team in collaboration with the Women Empowerment Welfare Society conducted a sensitization programme at Seth Motilal Kheria S. D. Inter College, Kanpur. The programme aimed to educate students about wildlife and its significance. The event also included outdoor activities to encourage active participation. A total of 150 students and 3 teachers were part of the event.

CELEBRATION OF ‘NATIONAL WILDLIFE WEEK 2023’ AT SARASWATI SHISHU MANDIR, LAJPAT NAGAR, KANPUR (8th October 2023) 

The WII-NMCG team in collaboration with the Women Empowerment Welfare Society organized a biodiversity awareness programme at Saraswati Shishu Mandir, Lajpat Nagar, Kanpur. The event involved various outdoor activities and concluded with a quiz competition, where certificates were awarded to the winners. A total of 250 students participated in the programme.

CELEBRATION OF ‘NATIONAL WILDLIFE WEEK 2023’ AT WILDLIFE INSTITUTE OF INDIA, DEHRADUN, UTTARAKHAND (6th October 2023) 

The WII-NMCG team organized a programme on ‘National Wildlife Week’ at the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun. The students delved into the intricacies of GIS and Remote Sensing, as well as the captivating dynamics of food chains and biomagnification, the programme continued with visits to the Forensic lab, Nature's Trail. They were engaged in wildlife-based games, puzzles, worksheets, and quizzes. A total of 200 students and 7 teachers were part of the event.

CELEBRATION OF ‘NATIONAL WILDLIFE WEEK 2023’ AT MAHIYASHI MAHADEVI VERMA GOVERNMENT INTER COLLEGE, FATEHGARH, UTTAR PRADESH (5th October 2023) 

The WII-NMCG Team celebrated Ganga River Dolphin Day at Mahiyashi Mahadevi Verma Govt. Inter College, Fatehgarh. The event aimed to sensitize students about the vital role played by the Ganga River Dolphin, which serves as a keystone species in the Ganga and its tributaries. The event has an active participation of 60 students and 2 teachers.

CELEBRATION OF ‘NATIONAL WILDLIFE WEEK 2023’ AT GOVT. HIGH SCHOOL, BEHRAL, HIMACHAL PRADESH (5th October 2023) 

The WII-NMCG Team celebrated Ganga River Dolphin Day at GHS, Behral, Paonta Sahib, Himachal Pradesh. The event aimed to educate students about the vital role played by the Ganga River Dolphin, a keystone species in the river Ganga and its tributaries. A total of 230 students and teachers were part of the programme.

CELEBRATION OF ‘NATIONAL WILDLIFE WEEK 2023’ AT GOVT. SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL, PRATAP NAGAR, HARYANA (5th October 2023) 

The WII-NMCG team celebrated Ganga River Dolphin Day at Govt. Senior Secondary School, Pratapnagar. The event showcased the captivating biodiversity of the revered Ganga River, with special emphasis on the significance of its majestic resident, the Gangetic River Dolphin. A total of 60 students and 3 teachers participated in the programme. 

CELEBRATION OF ‘NATIONAL WILDLIFE WEEK 2023’ AT GOVT. INTER COLLEGE, MIRZAPUR, UTTAR PRADESH (5th October 2023) 

The WII-NMCG Team at Govt. Inter College, Mirzapur, celebrated Ganga River Dolphin Day with the students and teachers. The event aimed to raise awareness about the Gangetic River Dolphin and other keystone species. A total of 80 students and 5 teachers enthusiastically took part in the event.

On the occasion of ‘National Wildlife Week, observed from 2nd October 2023 - 8th October, 2023, WII-NMCG Team in collaboration with the Women Empowerment Welfare Society, organized an awareness programme on biodiversity and its conservation at Jai Narayan Vidya Mandir Inter College, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. A total of 250 students participated in the event.

The WII-NMCG Team in collaboration with the Women Empowerment Welfare Society, organized a programme to educate students about the importance of Ganga Aqualife and its conservation. Various outdoor activities were employed to sensitively involve the 200 students in the programme.

The WII-NMCG Team organized an event at the Govt. High School, Doiwala, involving 80 students and 8 teachers. The programme aimed to raise awareness about the rich biodiversity of the Ganga River and its tributaries. The participants enthusiastically showcased their artistic talents and gained valuable insights into the captivating ecosystem of these vital waterways. A total of 80 students participated in the event.

The WII-NMCG Team conducted a cleanliness drive with the students of Bal Vidhya Mandir and the local community of Naugaun. The primary objective was to instil awareness about the significance of maintaining a clean environment. A total of 200 people participated in the drive.

ACTIVITIES CONDUCTED UNDER ‘SWACHHTA HI SEWA’ MISSION IN THE DIFFERENT SCHOOLS OF GANGA RIVER  BASIN AT GOVT. HIGH SCHOOL, BEHRAL, HIMACHAL PRADESH (27th September 2023)

As part of the ‘Swachhta hi Sewa’ initiative, the WII-NMCG team with teachers and students at Govt. High School, Behral, Himachal Pradesh, conducted a cleanliness drive. This community effort aimed to promote cleanliness and hygiene in the region. The event exemplified our commitment to the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan of the Govt. of India Programme.

AT GOVT. INTER COLLEGE, NAGNI, TEHRI GARHWAL, UTTARAKHAND (26th September 2023)

The WII-NMCG team organized a 'Swachhta Hi Sewa' event at Govt. Inter College, Nagni, Tehri Garhwal. Bal Ganga Prahari students and teachers enthusiastically participated in the event which included a cleanliness drive, a Swachhta oath-taking ceremony, and a slogans rally. 

POSTER PRESENTATION ON 34TH ANNUAL RESEARCH SEMINAR (ARS), 21ST- 22ND SEPTEMBER 2023 ON THE TITLE ‘BAL GANGA PRAHARI: TINY HANDS FOR NATURE CONSERVATION’

WII-NMCG Training Team presented posters during 34th Annual Research Seminar (ARS) 21st- 22nd September 2023 on the Title ‘Bal Ganga Prahari: Tiny Hands for Nature Conservation. The team acquired the second position in the poster ‘Bal Ganga Prahari: Tiny Hands for Nature Conservation’.

ESTABLISHMENT OF 15th GANGA AQUALIFE KNOWLEDGE CENTER AT GOVT. ABHINAV INTER COLLEGE, KANNAUJ, UTTAR PRADESH (22nd September 2023)

The Wildlife Institute of India, as part of the National Mission for Clean Ganga project, inaugurated its 15th Bal Ganga Prahari Corner (known as the Ganga Aqualife Knowledge Center) at Govt. Abhinav Inter College, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The center focuses on the theme of the Biodiversity of Ganga River. The primary aim of this initiative is to provide education to schoolchildren and enhance awareness regarding the biodiversity within the Ganga River basin.

ESTABLISHMENT OF 14th GANGA AQUALIFE KNOWLEDGE CENTER AT GOVT. HIGH SCHOOL, BEHRAL, HIMACHAL PRADESH (20th September 2023)

WII-NMCG Team successfully established the 14th Ganga Aqualife Knowledge Center at Govt. High School, Behral. The center represents our commitment to environmental education and conservation in the region, fostering a deeper understanding of the river ecosystem. The center will empower youth with vital knowledge about the river ecosystem, fostering a sustainable future for our environment.

SENSITIZATION PROGRAMME AT RAJKIYA ABHINAV INTER COLLEGE, GANGDHARA, KANNAUJ, UTTAR PRADESH (19th September 2023)

The WII-NMCG team organized a sensitization program at Rajkiya Abhinav Inter College, Kannauj. 100 students and 04 teachers actively participated in the event. The students were informed about the Ganga River, its tributaries, and its keystone species. They were also provided with knowledge about biodiversity and aquatic life. 

CELEBRATION OF ‘INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR THE PRESERVATION OF THE OZONE LAYER’ & ‘WORLD CLEANUP DAY’ AT GOVT. HIGH SCHOOL, BEHRAL, HIMACHAL PRADESH (16th September 2022)

The WII-NMCG team celebrated the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer and World Cleanup Day at Govt. High School, Behral. The event included painting and slogan competitions to raise awareness about the importance of the ozone layer. A total of 120 students and 6 teachers participated in the event contributing to the promotion of environmental consciousness within the community.  

INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR THE PRESERVATION OF THE OZONE LAYER’ AT MAHIYASHI MAHADEVEI VERMA GOVT. INTER COLLEGE, FATEHGARH, UTTAR PRADESH (16th September 2023)

On the significant day of Preservation of the Ozone Layer, the WII-NMCG team conducted a series of awareness activities that included Nukkad Nakad, poetry, and acting dedicated to environmental protection. The highlight was the inauguration of the 13th Ganga Aqualife Knowledge Center at Mahiyashi Mahadevei Verma Government Inter College in Fatehgarh, Uttar Pradesh. The event marked a significant step in nurturing youth towards environmental stewards.

   

ESSAY WRITING COMPETITION AT MAHIYASHI MAHADEVI VERMA GOVERNMENT GIRLS INTER COLLEGE, FATEHGARH, FARRUKHABAD, UTTAR PRADESH (15th September 2023)

Organized by the WII-NMCG team, an essay writing competition was held at Mahiyashi Mahadevi Verma Government Girls Inter College on the theme of 'Ganga River: Rejuvenation Process and Conservation of Aquatic Species'. 50 students enthusiastically participated in the competition, and the top 5 were duly awarded for their exceptional contributions.

SENSITIZATION PROGRAMME AT MAHIYASHI MAHADEVI VERMA GOVERNMENT GIRLS INTER COLLEGE, FATEHGARH, FARRUKHABAD, UTTAR PRADESH (14th September 2023)

The WII-NMCG Team organized a sensitization programme at Mahiyashi Mahadevi Verma Government Girls Inter College. The program aimed to educate students about the biodiversity of the Ganga River and introduce them to the Bal Ganga Prahari Programme. A total of 100 students and 3 teachers actively participated in the program. Furthermore, the students were instructed about the key species of the Ganga River and their vital role in the ecosystem. To conclude the event, a quiz competition was conducted.

In celebration of International Literacy Day, the WII-NMCG Team conducted a sensitization workshop at St. Kabeer Academy. The event was designed to enlighten both teachers and students about the rich biodiversity of the Ganga River and its tributaries. The workshop featured a blend of informative lectures, interactive sessions, and engaging activities focusing on Ganga Biodiversity themes. Additionally, prizes and certificates were awarded to the winners of the Independence Day Celebration competition.

   

TEACHER’S DAY CELEBRATION AT GOVERNMENT HIGH SCHOOL, BEHRAL, HIMACHAL PRADESH (5th September 2023)

The WII-NMCG Team organized a quiz competition centered around general awareness of biodiversity and environmental issues. The students participated with great enthusiasm, infusing the event with lively energy. Attractive prizes and certificates were presented to commend the student’s participation in the programme.

SENSITIZATION WORKSHOP AT DBS PG COLLEGE, KANPUR, UTTAR PRADESH (4th September 2023)

In collaboration with the management of DBS PG College, the WII-NMCG Team organized a sensitization workshop at DBS PG College, Kanpur. The workshop aimed to educate college students about the biodiversity and key species of the Ganga River, emphasizing their crucial role in maintaining a healthy ecosystem. A total of 57 college students and 8 professors actively participated in the programme.

SENSITIZATION PROGRAMME AT MAA KASTURBA GIRLS INTER COLLEGE, KANPUR, UTTAR PRADESH (2nd September 2023)

The WII-NMCG Team organized a sensitization programme at Maa Kasturba Girls Inter College, enlightening students about the biodiversity of the Ganga River and introducing them to the Bal Ganga Prahari Programme. The event had active participation of more than 110 students and 05 teachers. Additionally, students received knowledge about the key species of the Ganga River and their crucial role in maintaining the ecosystem.

A RADIO TALK ON ‘Career Counselling’ AT RADIO RISHIKESH 90 FM, A COMMUNITY RADIO (1st September 2023)

The WII-NMCG Team shed light on the diverse career opportunities related to various academic backgrounds, including science, commerce, and arts. This provided listeners with a broader understanding of the related fields and the potential career paths.

SENSITIZATION PROGRAMME AT ADITYA NARAYANA GOVERNMENT INTER COLLEGE, CHANDAULI, UTTAR PRADESH (1st September 2023)

Under the Bal Ganga Prahari Programme, the WII-NMCG Team organized a sensitization programme for the students and teachers of Aditya Narayan Government Inter College. The programme aimed to highlight the captivating biodiversity of the Ganga River and its tributaries. The attendees were actively engaged through presentations, short films, and documentaries. The event effectively showcased the critical importance of preserving the river's ecosystem and underscored its significance to the local community. A total of 125 students and 05 teachers were sensitized through the programme.

   

SENSITIZATION PROGRAMME AT HAR SAHAI JAGDAMBA SAHAI INTER COLLEGE, KANPUR, UTTAR PRADESH (30th August 2023) 

The WII-NMCG Team organized a sensitization programme at Har Sahai Jagdamba Sahai Inter College in Kanpur. The programme aimed to educate students about the biodiversity of the Ganga River and introduced them to the Bal Ganga Prahari Programme. A total of 120 students and 9 teachers actively participated in the programme. 

SENSITIZATION WORKSHOP AT PM SHRI GOVERNMENT INTER COLLEGE, MIRZAPUR, UTTAR PRADESH (29th August 2023)

WII-NMCG Team organized a sensitization workshop at the newly inaugurated Bal Ganga Prahari Corner, PM Shri Govt. Inter College, Mirzapur. The event featured engaging activities such as lectures, quizzes outdoor games, and interactive sessions.

11th BAL GANGA PRAHARI CORNER (GANGA AQUALIFE KNOWLEDGE CENTER) ESTABLISHED AT PM SHRI GOVT. GIRLS INTER COLLEGE, MIRZAPUR, UTTAR PRADESH (29th August 2023) The Wildlife Institute of India, as part of the National Mission for Clean Ganga project, inaugurated its 11th Bal Ganga Prahari Corner (known as the Ganga Aqualife Knowledge Center) at PM Shri Government Inter College in Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh. The center focuses on the theme of the Biodiversity of Ganga River. The primary aim of this initiative is to provide education to school children and enhance awareness regarding the biodiversity within the Ganga River basin.

The WII-NMCG team organized a sensitization programme at the Government Girls Inter College in Mujahfar Ganj, Mirzapur, where students were introduced to the captivating biodiversity of the Ganga River and its tributaries. Additionally, educational awareness materials were distributed to 90 students and 05 teachers who actively participated in the event.

SENSITIZATION PROGRAMME AT M.J. KANYA INTER COLLEGE CHAKIYA, CHANDAULI, UTTAR PRADESH (28th August 2023)

The WII-NMCG team organized a sensitization programme at M.J. Kanya Inter College, Chakiya, Chandauli. This programme aimed to educate students about the biodiversity of the Ganga River and introduce them to the Bal Ganga Prahari Programme. The event witnessed active participation from 80 students and 3 teachers, fostering awareness and promoting an understanding of the river and its biodiversity.

The WII-NMCG Team shed light on the ever-evolving landscape of solid waste management in today's context on Radio Rishikesh 90.0 MHz FM. Through captivating stories and enlightening discussions, the team delved into the realm of effective waste management practices, inspiring listeners, particularly the youth, to take tangible steps towards a cleaner environment. This event served as a compelling reminder of the immense influence that simple waste management strategies can wield in shaping our perception of a sustainable world.

The WII-NMG team organized a sensitization programme at Govt. Girls Inter College, Prayagraj, with a focus on emphasizing the importance of WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene). The students were enlightened about various practices contributing to a healthy lifestyle. This initiative aimed to raise awareness about maintaining clean water sources, proper sanitation, and good hygiene habits, fostering a healthier and more sustainable community.

10th BAL GANGA PRAHARI CORNER (GANGA AQUALIFE KNOWLEDGE CENTER) ESTABLISHED AT GOVT. GIRLS INTER COLLEGE, PRAYAGRAJ, UTTAR PRADESH (24th August 2023) 

The Wildlife Institute of India, as part of the National Mission for Clean Ganga project, inaugurated its 10th Bal Ganga Prahari Corner (known as the Ganga Aqualife Knowledge Center) at the Government Girls Inter College in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. The primary aim of this initiative is to provide education to school children and enhance awareness regarding the biodiversity within the Ganga River basin. 

A RADIO TALK ON ‘Celebrating the Art, Craft & Stories behind the Lens’ ON THE OCCASION OF ‘WORLD PHOTOGRAPHY DAY’ AT RADIO RISHIKESH 90 MHz FM, A COMMUNITY RADIO (19th August 2023)

On World Photography Day, the WII-NMCG Team gave a talk at Radio Rishikesh 90 MHz FM to highlight the dynamic aspects and the evolution of photography in the present scenario. Through engaging narratives and informative content, the team provided insights about wildlife photography. The event served as a reminder of the profound impact that a single photograph can have on our understanding of the world around us.

SENSITIZATION PROGRAMME AT PRATHAMIK VIDYALAYA HARIHARPUR, MIRZAPUR, UTTAR PRADESH (18th August 2023)

The WII-NMCG team organized a sensitization programme for students at Prathmik Vidyalaya, Hariharpur, Mirzapur. The programme aimed to introduce students to the diverse biodiversity of the Ganga River and its tributaries. Educational materials were distributed, and the event saw active participation from 60 students and 3 teachers.

INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION’ AT RAJSHRI TANDON HINDI VIDYAPEETH, MAHEWA, PRAYAGRAJ, UTTAR PRADESH (15th August 2023)

The WII-NMCG Team celebrated Independence Day with the students of Rajshri Tandon Hindi Vidyapeeth, Mahewa. The occasion honoured freedom fighters while emphasizing the significance of rivers and land. An awareness initiative highlighted Ganga’s aqua life, featuring diverse species models. Outdoor activities and interactive sessions engaged around 400 students and 17 teachers.

CELEBRATION OF ‘INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY’ AT PRAYAGRAJ, UTTAR PRADESH (12th August 2023)

The WII-NMCG Team and the Ganga Praharis, organized a cleanliness and plantation drive in Jagdishpur Village, Prayagraj, along the banks of the Yamuna River. This initiative aimed to not only improve the cleanliness of the area but also to raise awareness about the rich biodiversity of the Yamuna River among the local communities. A total of 50 local individuals were part of the programme.

On the occasion of International Youth Day, the WII-NMCG Team spoke on Radio Rishikesh 90.0 MHz FM about conserving the Ganga River. They shared stories and information to stress the need to protect the river's ecosystem. They have highlighted their framework of educating and inspiring young people towards conservation. 

SENSITIZATION PROGRAMME ORGANIZED ON THE THEME ‘MERI MAATI- MERA DESH” AT JAGDISHPUR, PRAYAGRAJ, UTTAR PRADESH, (12th August 2023)

On the occasion of International Youth Day 2023, the WII-NMCG team organized a programme titled "Meri Maati-Mera Desh" in Jagdishpur, Prayagraj. The programme focused on the theme of honoring our land and river, and it brought together approximately 100 Ganga Praharis and local villagers who actively participated, engaging in the Panchpran activities. The primary aim of the event was to express tribute to the land and river with a deep sense of reverence and gratitude.

ORGANIZATION OF EXPOSURE VISIT THEMED ‘Appreciating Nature, Science & Wildlife’ AT WILDLIFE INSTITUTE OF INDIA, DEHRADUN (11th August 2023)

The WII-NMCG team organized an exposure visit for Carman Residential and Day School at the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun. The WII-NMCG team organized an awareness programme for Bal Ganga Praharis at Upper Primary School, Baswar, Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. The students participated in engaging activities such as worksheets, outdoor games, and quiz to learn about the diverse biodiversity of the Ganga and its tributaries. With the active participation of 80 students and 5 teachers, the event successfully the event effectively raised awareness about the importance of the river's ecosystem.

ORGANIZATION OF EXPOSURE VISIT THEMED ‘Appreciating Nature, Science & Wildlife’ AT WILDLIFE INSTITUTE OF INDIA, DEHRADUN (9th August 2023) 

The WII-NMCG team organized an exposure visit for senior students of the Convent of Jesus & Mary School at WII, where the first session focused on the importance of our heritage & and cultural values through a visit to the UNESCO C2C Centre, followed by a visit to Wildlife forensic lab. The second session highlights aquatic species conservation and GIS technology. Wildlife Games and quizzes were also conducted on the 'Life on Ganga Species' theme. A total of 42 students were present in the programme.

A RADIO TALK ON BAL GANGA PRAHARI PROGRAMME AT RADIO RISHIKESH 90 FM, A COMMUNITY RADIO (2nd AUGUST 2023)

WII-NMCG Team had a Radio talk on the “Bal Ganga Prahari” programme aimed at educating students within the Ganga Basin about the river's biodiversity for effective conservation efforts, at Radio Rishikesh 90.0 MHz FM. The talk highlighted the programme's role in cultivating a generation of environmentally conscious advocates.

EXPOSURE VISIT ORGANIZED ON THE THEME ‘APPRECIATING NATURE, SCIENCE & WILDLIFE’ AT WILDLIFE INSTITUTE OF INDIA, DEHRADUN (26th July 2023)

The young minds of St. Kabeer Academy, Dehradun had an exposure visit to the Wildlife Institute of India (WII) organized by the WII-NMCG Project. Immersed in the wonders of nature and biodiversity, they engaged in interactive sessions with experts and learned about the significance of Ganga conservation through fun-filled activities such as Wildlife games and quizzes. They also put their minds to the test by engaging in worksheets designed to keep relevant information up to date. A total of 70 participants including 3 teachers were present in the program.

SENSITIZATION PROGRAMME CONDUCTED AT GOVT. MODEL PRIMARY SCHOOL, KAFNOL, UTTARKASHI ON WORLD POPULATION DAY, (11th July 2023)

The WII-NMCG team organized the Bal Ganga Prahari Programme at Govt. Model Primary School, Kafnol, Uttarkashi, with the objective of educating students and teachers about the significance of Ganga River biodiversity and conservation. Interactive activities and outdoor games were conducted. A total of 130 students and 2 teachers participated in the programme. 

WORLD POPULATION DAY CELEBRATION AT GOVT. PRIMARY SCHOOL, TAJEWALA, HARYANA, (11th July 2023)

The WII-NMCG team organized activities on ‘World Population Day’ highlighting the importance of global population issues, emphasizing the need for access to education, healthcare, and the impact of increasing population on our biodiversity and ecosystem. More than 85 students and 3 teachers from Govt. Primary School, Tajewala, Haryana had participated.

SENSITIZATION PROGRAMME AT GOVT. GIRLS SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL, PRATAP NAGAR, HARYANA, (10th July 2023)

The Bal Ganga Prahari programme, aimed to educate students about the importance of the biodiversity of the Ganga River basin and promote its conservation was conducted. A total of 75 students and 3 teachers were engaged in the programme through various activities related to the conservation of biodiversity of the Ganga River basin.

CELEBRATION OF WEEK-LONG VAN MAHOTSAV AT VARIOUS SCHOOLS OF THE GANGA RIVER BASIN, (1st-7th JULY 2023)

PLANTATION DRIVE AT GOVT. GIRLS SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL, PRATAP NAGAR, HARYANA

WII-NMCG Team facilitated a plantation drive in Govt. Girls Senior Secondary School, Pratapnagar, aimed to promote tree plantation to combat deforestation. Students actively contributed to the drive by planting saplings in designated areas. A total of 150 students actively participated. 

PLANTATION DRIVE AT GOVT. PRIMARY SCHOOL, TAJEWALA, HARYANA

The Govt. Primary School, Tajewala actively participated in the Week-long Van Mahotsav initiative. The students took part in the plantation drive conducted by the WII-NMCG team. A total of 100 students from Govt. Primary School, Tajewala was educated about the importance of planting trees and preserving the environment.

PLANTATION DRIVE AT GOVT. HIGH SCHOOL, BEHRAL, HIMACHAL PRADESH

The WII-NMCG team conducted a plantation drive in Govt. High School, Behral as a part of a week-long Van Mahotsav initiative. Approximately 150 students were actively involved in the plantation drive. 

SENSITIZATION PROGRAM AT PRATHAMIK VIDYALAYA BALIPUR & PRATHAMIK VIDYALAYA MADHUPUR, VARANASI, UTTAR PRADESH (23rd June 2023)

Under the Bal Ganga Prahari Program, students of Prathmik Vidyalaya Balipur and Prathmik Vidyalaya Madhupur, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, were exposed to the Biodiversity of the Ganga River. Students were introduced to the Bal Ganga Prahari Program and their role in the conservation of biodiversity. They were also engaged in biodiversity-based conservation education and awareness activities for Bal Ganga Praharis. A total of 100 students and six teachers from both schools actively participated in the program.

CLEANLINESS DRIVE AT AGHORESHWAR BHAGWAN RAM GHAT, VARANASI, UTTAR PRADESH (22nd June 2023)

The WII-NMCG team organized a sensitization and cleanliness drive at Aghoreshwar Bhagwan Ram Ghat, Varanasi. Bal Ganga Parahris from nearby villages present at the ghat actively participated and were told about the importance of solid waste management techniques and community participation for a cleaner future.  A total of 20 children participated in the programme.

SENSITIZATION PROGRAM AT PRATHAMIK VIDYALAYA, DOMRI VARANASI, UTTAR PRADESH (20th June 2023)

WII-NMCG Team conducted a sensitization program for the students of Prathamik Vidyalaya, Domri Varanasi, where students were exposed to the importance of the Ganga River and its biodiversity. They were also engaged with biodiversity-based activities such as sticky stamps, puzzles, and quizzes to ensure their active engagement. A total of 50 students and four teachers actively participated in the program.

   

SENSITIZATION PROGRAM AT BAL NIKUNJ (GIRLS) INTER COLLEGE, MADIYAON, LUCKNOW, UTTAR PRADESH (20th June 2023)

WII-NMCG team conducted an awareness program for the students of Bal Nikunj (Girls) Inter College, Madiyaon, Lucknow. The students were provided with an opportunity to delve into the mesmerizing world of the river Ganga and its tributaries through various interactive sessions and quizzes, captivating the young minds and encouraging them to become Bal Ganga Prahari. More than 80 students and 3 teachers actively participated in the event.

WORLD YOGA DAY CELEBRATION AT MUDADEV PRIMARY SCHOOL, VIDYAPEETH, VARANASI, UTTAR PRADESH (21st June 2023)

To celebrate World Yoga Day, themed "Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam," i.e., the whole world is one family, the WII-NMCG team conducted a sensitization program at Mudadev Primary School, Vidyapeeth, Varanasi. About 45 students and 04 teachers were introduced to the concept of Bal Ganga Prahari. They were told about the importance of Ecosystem Services provided by the Ganges, Gangetic diversity, and the need for its conservation. A quiz competition was also held. Students were also engaged with activities like sticky stamps, word scrambles, and conservation exercises for Bal Ganga Praharis.

THE ONE-WEEK SUMMER CAMP ORGANIZED FOR THE BAL GANGA PRAHARIS AT WILDLIFE INSTITUTE OF INDIA, DEHRADUN (12th June 2023 to 16th June 2023)

WII-NMCG Team come up with various activities for the BAL Ganga Praharis viz., drawing, painting, card making, mandala art painting on earthen pot, dance, etc. to bring them and to help them to grow together while learning various recreational activities and inculcating moral ethics to the young minds. A total of 18 students have joined the camp.

CELEBRATED WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY AT JANKI CHILDREN ACADAMY, DEHRADUN (5th June 2023)

The WII-NMCG Team organized a poster-making competition with the theme focusing on ‘solutions to plastic pollution under the campaign #BeatPlaticPollution’ in Janki Children Academy to enlighten the students about the hazards caused by plastic to the environment. They also pledged to safeguard the environment and beat plastic pollution. A total of 600 students participated in the programme.

DRAWING AND ESSAY WRITING COMPETITIONS ON ‘WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY’ AT GOVT. GIRLS HIGHER SECONDARY SCHOOL, KHARKHARI, HARIDWAR, UTTARAKHAND (5th June 2023)

 On the occasion of World Environment Day drawing and essay-writing competitions on the theme ‘solutions to plastic pollution under the campaign #BeatPlaticPollution’ was organized at G.G.H.S.S., Kharkhari, Haridwar, aimed to reinforce the student’s understanding of the global actions to protect the environment. A total of 110 students participated in the programme.

The NMCG-WII project team Installed an earthen pot water cooler at Bal Ganga Prahari School, R.N.I. Inter College, Bhagwanpur, Haridwar, under the theme ‘Save Energy’ of Mission Life. By implementing these earthen pot water coolers, the WII-NMCG Team contributed to creating a healthier and more environmentally conscious learning environment for the students.

SKIT ON MILLETS UNDER MISSION LIFE CAMPAIGN AT R.N.I. INTERCOLLEGE, BHAGWANPUR, HARIDWAR, UTTARAKHAND (26th May 2023)

NMCG Team delivered a captivating skit highlighting the significance of millets and promoting awareness about their environmental benefits. The performance aimed to empower students with knowledge and inspire them to embrace an environmentally friendly lifestyle. By showcasing the importance of millet, the skit encouraged students to make sustainable food choices and contribute to a healthier planet.

ECO ART PROJECTS COMPETITION, NUKKAD NATAK, UNDER MISSION LIFE CAMPAIGN AT R.N.I. INTERCOLLEGE, BHAGWANPUR, HARIDWAR, UTTARAKHAND (26th May 2023)

The WII-NMCG Team conducted a successful Mission LiFE campaign at R.N.I. Inter College in Bhagwanpur, Haridwar. The event featured impactful awareness programs, including Eco art Projects created by students showcasing various environmental conservation techniques. Additionally, a thought-provoking Nukkad Natak was performed to promote mindful and responsible resource utilization. The initiatives aimed to inspire the students of RNI Inter College to become active participants in preserving the environment and adopting sustainable practices.

As part of the Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for the Environment) Campaign, the WII-NMCG team conducted a Best out of Waste activity at S.G.R.R. Public School in Barkot, Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand. Engaging 100 students, the activity focused on creating practical items such as carry bags using waste wrappers of snacks and chocolates. By promoting the principles of reuse, reduce, and recycle, the initiative aimed to instill a sense of environmental responsibility and contribute to a healthier and more sustainable environment.

‘HANDS-ON SKILL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME’ UNDER MISSION LIFE CAMPAIGN AT GOVT. GIRLS HIGHER SECONDARY SCHOOL, KHARKHARI, HARIDWAR, UTTARAKHAND, (18th May 2023)

The NMCG-WII team organized a hands-on skill development program at GGHSS Kharkhari, Haridwar. The students actively participated in Mandala art painting on earthen pots and showcased their creativity with pistachio. Additionally, they delivered a powerful Nukkad Natak performance to raise awareness about environmental protection and the importance of preserving our surroundings. With the participation of over 100 students, the program successfully imparted knowledge about adopting an environmentally friendly lifestyle, empowering them to become advocates for a sustainable future.

CLEANLINESS DRIVE CONDUCTED AT G.I.C. NAGNI, TEHRI GARHWAL, UTTARAKHAND (15th May 2023)

As a part of the Mission LiFE campaign, the WII-NMCG team organized a cleanliness drive and campus beautification program at GIC, Nagni, Tehri Garhwal, Uttarakhand. The initiative aimed to raise awareness among students about the importance of cleanliness and environmental conservation. Through active participation, the students learned valuable lessons about taking responsibility for their surroundings and contributing to a healthier and more beautiful environment. A total of 130 students participated in the programme.

EXPOSURE VISIT ORGANIZED AT WILDLIFE INSTITUTE OF INDIA, DEHRADUN, UTTARAKHAND (12th May 2023)   

WII-NMCG Team organized an exposure visit themed ‘Appreciating Nature, Science & Wildlife’ for the students from Govt. High School, Behral, Himachal Pradesh where 30 students and 2 teachers were exposed to the beautiful campus of Wildlife Institute of India, Nature Trail, and Forensic Labs, Dehradun, Uttarakhand. They were briefed on the biodiversity of the Ganga River and various outdoor activities were conducted to enhance their understanding of the ecology of different aquatic species.

SENSITIZATION PROGRAMME AT BASIC VIDYALAYA, SHRINGAR NAGAR, LUCKNOW, UTTAR PRADESH (26th April 2023)

The WII-NMCG Team ignited the young minds towards river conservation by conducting an awareness programme where students were sensitized about the Ganga River biodiversity through conducting various outreach activities. The programme aimed to instill a deep appreciation for our rivers and their vital role in our ecosystem. A total of 50 students participated in the programme.

The WII-NMCG team celebrated “Earth Day” 2023 at Ram Raji Inter College in Mundera, Ambedkar Nagar, Uttar Pradesh. Through various creative activities, the students were sensitized about the conservation of natural resources and encouraged to take individual actions for a more beautiful Earth. The WII-NMCG Team organized an exposure cum educational visit on the theme of 'Appreciating Nature, Science & Wildlife' for the students of the Defence Officers Academy, Dehradun. A group of 25 students and 1 teacher had the opportunity to explore the scenic campus and nature trail of the Wildlife Institute of India. During the visit, the students were given a brief introduction to the WII-NMCG project, emphasizing the importance of biodiversity conservation, and instilling a sense of responsibility in their young minds.

The WII-NMCG Team organized an exposure visit titled 'Appreciating Nature, Science & Wildlife' for the students from Upper Primary School, Chandrabani, Dehradun. The students were given a brief overview of the WII-NMCG Project and the Bal Ganga Prahari Programme, with the aim of inspiring them to become future Bal Ganga Praharis. They also had the opportunity to explore the Nature Trail at the Wildlife Institute of India. A total of 30 students, accompanied by 3 teachers, participated in the visit, fostering their connection with nature, science, and wildlife.

AWARENESS PROGRAM ORGANIZED AT RAJKIYA MADHYAMIK VIDYALAYA, TAJEWALA, YAMUNANAGAR, HARYANA (28th March 2023)

The WII-NMCG Team organized an awareness programme at Rajkiya Madhyamik Vidyalaya in Tajewala, Yamunanagar, Haryana. The students were engaged in outdoor games and activities that showcased the diverse biodiversity of the Ganga River. INTERNATIONAL DAY OF ACTION FOR RIVERS’ CELEBRATED AT A VILLAGE, KALSI, DEHRADUN (14th March 2023)

The ‘International Day of Action for Rivers’ was celebrated by the WII-NMCG Team at Kalsi village, Dehradun by conducting an awareness rally with the 35 students of Rajkiya Inter College, focusing on river conservation. Along with this, the plantation of Banj oak, Ficus, Bauhinia, Shahtoot, and other tree species was done and a small Chal-Khal was constructed as a rainwater harvesting technique. A visit to Shaheed Ashfaq Ullah Khan Prani Udyan with the Chief guest of the program Dr. Yogesh Pratap Singh, wildlife expert of Zoological Park, was also organized through which the students were informed about the aquatic animals in the zoological park. A brief introduction of the keystone species of Ganga and its presence shows a healthy ecosystem was also carried out. More than 50 students and 6 teachers actively participated in the program.

On 16th December 2022, WII-NMCG Team conducted a plantation drive in Late Nain Singh Rawat Govt. Inter College, Bulhad, Chakrata, near a local water resource. An awareness of the conservation of water resources was carried out and also trenches were constructed as a rainwater harvesting technique. A total of 154 students were being sensitized through the program.

Under the ‘Catch the Rain Campaign’, WII-NMCG Team conducted a plantation drive in Ayodhya Das Government Girls Inter College, Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, where a total of 75 students along with 2 teachers of the school actively and enthusiastically participated in the plantation drive. A herbal garden was made where in plants such as neem, Baheda, Ashwagandha, Sarpgandha, Amla, Harsinghar, etc. were planted. UP State flower Palash tree was also planted. An awareness about conservation of the water resources was conducted wherein they were told about various techniques through which water can be conserved such as rainwater harvesting and groundwater rejuvenation.

The WII-NMCG team in collaboration with UP Forest Department, Ayodhya conducted a Plantation Drive at GIC Ground, Ayodhya. DFO, Ayodhya Shri Shitanshu Pandey (IFS) also took part in the plantation drive. Banyan, Neem and Peepal trees were planted during the drive. On this occasion he interacted with the students and motivated them to plant a tree by their name. Bal Ganga Prahari corner (Ganga Aqualife Knowledge Centre) was also inaugurated in the same event.

Under ‘Catch the Rain Campaign’, the WII-NMCG team suggested the urgent need of dense canopy forests and its immediate plantation in mass scale as an important nature-based solution for the water recharge in the high slope terranes. The dense forests act as a natural spunge that restricts the sudden flow and wastage of water and helps the recharge aquifers to provide water for the whole year. The students of RCB SVMIC, Gopeshwar, Chamoli interacted with the team and gave a strong message of water conservation through plantation drive. A total of 20 students and 16 teachers actively participated in the program.

Under ‘Catch the Rain Campaign’ the youth of Rumsi village gave a strong message to conserve water through terrace bunding in their farm fields under the supervision of WII-NMCG team. The bunding is a little elevation maintained in the edges of terraces that helps to delay water flushing and recharges water for the lean water time during dry summers. The WII-NMCG team informed and suggested them to use terrace bunding in every field of village. A total of 12 youths actively participated in the event.

The WII-NMCG Team organized a plantation drive at sangam of Gomati and Ganga in Patna village Gazipur. Plants were distributed to the villagers and the idea of water conservation was introduced to them. They were also made aware about the importance of the Ganga River, its prime species and the threats they face. The villagers pledged to keep the river clean and to not engage in activities that deteriorates the health of the river. Near about 19 local residents were part of the program.

SENSITIZATION WORKSHOP IN RAJKIYA BALIKA INTER COLLEGE, DEVPRAYAG, TEHRI GARHWAL (6th MAY, 2022)

Amidst the development of Bal Ganga Prahari Corner also known as Ganga Aqualife Knowledge Center at Rajkiya Balika Inter College, Devprayag, Tehri Garhwal, a sensitization workshop was held in the school with the future Bal Ganga Praharis. Students were introduced with the concept of Bal Ganga Prahari Corner, the mandate behind it and its role as a central unit in nurturing the informed and conscious task force of tomorrow. Students were briefed about their role as a guardian of Ganga and its biodiversity, how they can contribute to the greater cause of tomorrow and the mechanisms of water from being a glacier to the flowing entity from Gangotri to Ganga Sagar. A total of 22 students actively participated in the talk.

Exposure cum educational tour at ganga avalokan, chandi ghat, haridwar, Uttarakhand by Sahayadri international school, Pune, Maharastra on 27th March 2022

Under the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun, Uttarakhand - ‘National Mission for Clean Ganga’, Biodiversity Conservation Initiative Project, the WII-NMCG team had interacted with teachers and students of Sahayadri International School, Pune, Maharastra during an exposure cum educational tour at Ganga Avlokan, Chandi Ghat, Haridwar, Uttarakhand on 27th March, 2022.  Interactive talks along with an overview of WII-NMCG project, Ganga Prahari and Bal Ganga Prahari Programme, Community participation & livelihood of River Ganga were discussed briefly with the senior secondary students by the team members.

Team Members:  WII-NMCG team comprised of following persons: Mr. Rahul Gupta, Assistant Training Coordinator; Mr. Aakash Rawat, Project Assistant Grade II-Technical; Ms. Snigdha Das, Project Intern; Ms. Aarti Chauhan, Project Intern.

Participants: This exposure cum educational tour was attended by 3 Teachers and 25 Senior Secondary Students from the respective school. The Students were basically from Class XII standards.

About the programme: WII- NMCG team members gave a brief overview about WII- NMCG Project at the beginning. Thereafter, an interactive talk was done by the team members with the students followed by a Question- Answer session where students asked their doubts and other informative facts were shared with them by the team members for better understanding about the project. 

      At the sale point of Ganga Avlokan, team members introduced various hand- made products that were made by the Ganga Praharis. Team members also highlighted about the significant role that are playing by our Guardians of River Ganga, i.e. Ganga Praharis. After that team members discussed about the participation of river bank side communities and their role on conservation of River Ganga. Teachers from the respective school actively participated along with the WII-NMCG team members to give a brief understanding about Community based participation and their dependency in terms of their livelihood in river ecosystem. 

     At the end of the programme, team members shared about different outreach activities programmes for Bal Ganga Praharis, about its objectives as it helping to give a better learning among the students to Conserve, Rejuvenate River Ganga. The programme was ended with a thanks given where team members appreciated teachers and students for giving their valuable time to interact, to learn and to understand about the NMCG-project and its purpose for Conservation and Management initiatives for River Ganga.

Under the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun, Uttarakhand - ‘National Mission for Clean Ganga’, Biodiversity Conservation Initiative Project, the WII-NMCG team had organized an awareness programme at U.H.S. Middle School, Laxmipur Bihar on 11th March, 2022. The objective of the programmes was to aware the school students about the importance of river Gandak and its biodiversity and Conservation. The students were engaged by showing various informative videos related to the biodiversity and conservation. During the Programme, the interactive outdoor exercises based on species conservation themes had been conducted.

Team Members:  WII-NMCG team comprised of following persons:  Dr. Sangeeta Angom, Project Scientist & Training Coordinator; Mr. Rahul Gupta, Assistant Training Coordinator; Ms. Simren Dogra, Project Intern; Ms. Snigdha Das, Project Intern.

Participants:  The Sensitization Programme was attended by a total of 89 students from standard VII & VIII.

Sensitization programme at government middle school (river valley project school), Valmiki Nagar, Bihar on 10th march 2022

Under the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun, Uttarakhand - ‘National Mission for Clean Ganga’, Biodiversity Conservation Initiative Project, the WII-NMCG team had organized an awareness event based on Aquatic Species of Gandak River in the Government Middle School, Valmiki Nagar, Bihar on 10th March, 2022. School students were engaged with the method of ‘Learning by Doing’ through interactive exercises based on species conservation themes. The WII-NMCG team also interacted with the Teachers of the respective school for Identification of ‘Bal Ganga Prahari Corner’ near the bank of the Gandak River under WII-NMCG Project.

Team Members: WII-NMCG team comprised of following persons:  Dr. Sangeeta Angom, Project Scientist & Training Coordinator; Ms. Hemlata Khanduri, Eco-Development Officer; Ms. Ekta Sharma, Senior Research Fellow; Mr. Mukesh Deorari, Junior Eco-Development Officer; Mr. Rahul Gupta, Assistant Training Coordinator; Ms. Dimitri Barury, Project Intern; Ms. Priya Prajapati, Project Intern.

Participants:  The Sensitization Programme was attended by approximately 100 numbers of School students from Government Middle School, Valmiki Nagar, Bihar. The School participants were from Standard I to VII from the respective school. 

Activities and Events: WII- NMCG team members were focused on developing awareness for Aquatic Species of River Ganga by giving them ideas with reference to Gandak River among the school students. Different outdoor and indoor activities, outreach programme, games were conducted to highlight the fact and observation regarding river ecosystem conservation. This will help in upcoming conservation and management works for River Ganga and its tributaries as it will help to increase the networking among the people for Ganga Rejuvenation and Conservation Initiatives.

  • Interactive session - Dr. Sangeeta Angom, Project Scientist & Training Coordinator; gave a brief introduction regarding the WII-NMCG Project. She interacted with the student as it helped to know about the student’s perspective and their brief overview on Gandak River and also about the River Ganga. This interactive session helped and gave an idea to the NMCG team members how to proceed for activities with the students.
  • Activities and Games - Team members conducted different outdoor and indoor activities for the students. Students actively participated on different outdoor activities which help them in learning about the species of Gandak River. They were also enlightened with Ganga related various activities under NMCG project.
