EIA Workshops



Current Trends and Practices in EIA 26-28 December, 1996

A 3 day workshop on "Current Trends and Practices in EIA" was conducted at WII.

The major objectives of the workshop were to :

Arrive at a common understanding of the role and scope of EIA
Review recent trends, key issues and emerging directions for Ecological Impact Assessment
Examine the contributions of EIA in problem solving and decision making.
Improve the efficacy of EIA as a valuable tool in conservation of biodiversity resources.

The workshop brought together planners, consultants, environmental engineers, scientists, foresters, resource managers and decision makers to share and collate experience, insight and opinions on varying aspects of EIA.
