Project Area : Poonch & Rajouri Districts of Jammu & Kashmir

The main focus of this project is to identify and pilot test various technologies, which can help to deal with the human wildlife conflict related issues. Based on WWF’s past studies, currently a proper strategy is being formulated and conflict mitigation measures have been initiated accordingly with active involvement of all the key stakeholders. One of the major focus of this project is to develop the capacity of the frontline staff of the forest and wildlife departments so that they can efficiently deal with various conflict related issues. Simultaneously a well-coordinated awareness campaign for the highly vulnerable communities has been initiated. Further various new technologies, which are being used in different areas of Himalayas are also being tested at five selected villages of Pir Panjal as part of Human-Wildlife conflict mitigation strategy.
