Management Effectiveness Evaluation of Coastal and Marine Protected Areas in India

Consultative dialogue for finalization of training module on “Management Effectiveness Evaluation of Coastal and Marine Protected Areas in India” was jointly organized by Wildlife Institute of India (WII) and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, GoI, on February 27 to March 1, 2017, at Port Blair, Andaman. The intention of this official gathering was to finalize the training module and to develop Assessing Management Effectiveness Evaluation (MEE) framework for Indian Coastal and Marine Protected Areas (CMPAs). Twelve participants including Dr. Jon Day, Former Director, Great Barrier Reef National Park, Mr. V.B. Sawarkar, Former Director, WII, Dr. Alok Saxena, PCCF (ANI), Mr. M. S. Negi, PCCF (ANI), Dr. Ajay Desai, MEE expert have also participated in this workshop. MEE framework for MPAs has been finalized, that encourage the people participation in planning and governance of MPAs in India.
