My lab’s research focuses primarily on the ecology and dynamics of wildlife populations, especially in the context of management and conservation problems. My core interests lie in understanding more about Indian wetlands, Indian Himalayan Region and the rare and threatened species in these habitats. My investigations entail studying threatened faunal species and documenting ecological processes and patterns following human–wildlife interactions. As Nodal officer of the Conservation Advisory and Policy cell, I continue to offer critical decision support to several statutory bodies through science based evidence. I am a Member in various IUCN Species Survival Commissions and specialist groups like Crocodile Specialist Group, Stork, Ibis and Spoonbill Specialist Group, Commission on Education and Communication, World Commission on Protected Areas and Commission on Ecosystem Management. I am involved in teaching subjects related to wildlife biology, protected area management, wetland ecology and management at the postgraduate level, Ph.D courses and impart training to in-service forest officers from India and other Asian countries in Wildlife management/Wetland Conservation and Management. My other interests include travel and nature photography.
