Dr. Gautam Talukdar obtained his Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS) and has over 25 years of professional experience. He is currently Scientist ‘F’ (Professor) and has a broad spectrum of responsibilities, including Nodal Officer at the Information Technology, Remote Sensing & GIS and Audio Video Cell and coordinating the program on Management Effectiveness Evaluation of Protected Areas of India on behalf of MoEF&CC.
His research pursuits spans in geo-informatics for sustainable development, natural heritage, macro-ecological modeling, and focuses on understanding the interplay between climate change and biodiversity. He has served as an expert for the Intergovernmental Panel on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Service (IPBES) and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
