The 76th independence day was celebrated at the Wildlife Institute of India (WII). Dr. Ruchi Badola, Scientist G and Registrar, WII hoisted our national flag at WII on this occasion. She is the first lady to hoist the national flag for the first time in the history of WII.
Dr. Badola talked in her speech, about the WII’s footprint in the field of biodiversity conservation as a premiere institute of the nation. She informed the WII’s contribution towards aquatic species conservation such as Gangetic Dolphin, Gharial, Crocodiles, Turtles and conservation of terrestrial species like Tiger and Elephant. She also informed the institute’s contribution towards the Cheetah reintroduction programme in India. She informed about the establishment of River Research Centre at WII campus, which is one of its kind in the country.






Dr. Badola briefed about the institute’s high quality research facility and educational collaboration with the ACSIR. She highlighted contribution of WII to forensic science, aquatic research, linear infrastructure development and other development projects by providing guidance to the implementing agencies for inclusive developmental progress of the country. She also highlighted about the large participation of women in institute’s research and other official activities.
The programme was followed by award ceremony to children of WII family members who have secured good marks in their school and high school degrees in last year to encourage the children for their future endeavor. The ceremony was concluded with a friendly football match.
