WII has an active Researcher Recruitment and Placement Cell (RRP) which is mandated to ensure a streamlined, unbiased, and technology-driven recruitment process for project personnel at WII. In addition to facilitating internal recruitment, the Cell aims to disseminate relevant career opportunity information to the wider research community. Furthermore, the RRP Cell is committed to developing robust IT infrastructure to minimize manual handling and enhance transparency and efficiency in recruitment operations.
- Ensure the timely and seamless recruitment of research/project personnel for various ongoing projects and schemes.
- Facilitate the swift publication of advertisements, sorting and processing of applications, and issuance of call letters through automated systems.
- Constitute an Application Screening Committee to verify physical documents and shortlist applications as per pre-approved institutional guidelines.
- Form an Interview Committee to conduct interviews and declare results after obtaining approval from the Competent Authority.
- Share recruitment details with the Research Coordinator’s Office for the creation and maintenance of a central database, and to support timely contract extensions.
- Actively seek and circulate information regarding external employment opportunities to students and research professionals in a timely manner.
Recruitment Process
Recruitment for Short-Term Projects (Duration ≤ 6 months)
For short-duration projects, the Principal Investigator (PI) may recruit project personnel by inviting applications or CVs based on candidates’ experience and project relevance. The PI must submit an e-file containing all relevant documents, including a written justification for selection, to the RRP Cell. Approval from the Competent Authority must be obtained prior to the issuance of an office order. Extensions beyond the stipulated project tenure are not permissible under this category.

Advertisement of Vacancies
- Upon receiving requirements from PIs or Nodal Officers and subsequent approval from the Competent Authority, the RRP Cell publishes recruitment advertisements on WII's official website (www.wii.gov.in) and its social media handles.
- Advertisements shall include comprehensive information regarding eligibility criteria, roles and responsibilities, terms and conditions, and deadlines.
- All positions advertised will be on a temporary/contractual basis for the duration of the project and will be discontinued upon project completion.
- Interested candidates must submit a duly filled application form bearing a handwritten signature (digital or photocopied signatures are not accepted), along with self-attested supporting documents and the requisite processing fee.
